< JUST IN ! ! ! Late  2007 - Frank Glaw and Miguel Vences have finally finished their highly-awaited 3rd edition of A Field Guide to the Amphibians and Reptiles of Madagascar.  This brand new, totally up-to-date volume is huge496 pages with over 1500 color photos!  This time it’s in a larger format (6.75" wide x 9.5" high) and weighs 3.5 pounds!  The text is jam-packed to the page edges as in the previous edition over 13 years ago, so you’ll get your money’s worth of info!  I have 4 copies left here available now, ‘gifts’ from the authors for the 15 pictures of mine used in it.  $ 100.00 per book, plus postage as per rates in green print above.

A  FIELDGUIDE  TO  THE  CHAMELEONS  OF  MADAGASCAR  / Gilles & Aurelia Moynot, 2005, 100+ pp., (softbound). Hot-off-the-press in Madagascar, this brand new guide presents all 42 currently described species as watercolor paintings, including geographic variations and sexual dimorphism, plus range maps for all subspecies.  Text in English, French and Malagasy - a first!  Imported from Madagascar.  $25.00, plus postage (see above)

ANTIPODE / Heather Heying, 2002, 270 pp., (hardbound). Detailed and very descriptive account of a researcher's several seasons living on the island of Nosy Mangabe (northeastern Madagascar) studying the tiny frog Mantella laevigata.  This is much more than a book about frogs; her keen observations on Malagasy life compete to overshadow the raw biology.  A MUST for anyone planning to visit that special island, or considering conducting research in Madagascar in general!  $25.00, plus postage (see above)

BIRDS  OF  MADAGASCAR :  A  PHOTOGRAPHIC  GUIDE, Morris & Hawkins, 1998, 316 pp.,( hardbound). Every species illustrated in color, mostly by photos, plus good natural history information on each too. $49.00, plus postage (see above)

AN  ELEMENTARY  ENGLISH  -  MALAGASY  DICTIONARY, Vaovao, 1999, 160 pp., (softbound).  This is a basic dictionary containing about 10,000 words used commonly in modern English. Hard to find outside Madagascar. $20.00, plus postage (see above)
